Just in time - Logistic solution
Our client
A manufacturer of enclosed and temperature controlled electronic cabinet systems. The tight schedules for the implementation of complex projects call for carefully timed deliveries and absolute flexibility from all suppliers.

The challenge
The client envisaged a system where it is able to deliver its products to their clients within 72 hours from order placement.

The solution
Lordan offered the client a logistic solution of a Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) system.

The process
A VMI system was implemented between Lordan and the client's warehouse whereby the client was given complete control over the timing and size of the order being placed, while Lordan maintained the inventory plan.
When our client needed products, an order was placed to Lordan.
Lordan then receives electronic data that indicates a sales operation has been performed, and stock level alterations that have been made, and is responsible for creating and maintaining the inventory plan. Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) provides significant bottom line benefits to the client. It can substantially increase profitability as a result of:
  • Increased sales
  • Shortened delivery times
  • Just in time production
  • Reduced operating costs
  • Stronger customer relationships
Results
The results have shown that we share a real time picture with our customers, which includes the quantity of product transferred, ordered, and received from us. With such data available to us, we are more effective and can be more proactive.
This system has been in operation since 2007. Lordan and the client are enjoying the success of the VMI system along with lasting business cooperation.
